I have, on and off, been working on "A Big Thing" - multiple canvasses, complicated. Part of that is to use encaustic paint to create many layered visuals to try and encapsulate a complex theme. Today I finally got around to making the actual encaustic medium - melting beeswax and damar resin together - much less onerous than I feared, and I now have five cakes of the medium ready to go, once pigment has been added later.
I now need to study (hard) the processes involved in making art from this hot wax and how I can use it to realise my "vision". Wish me luck.
