Today has been quite a day all being told, but I did manage to get some more of this piece done, even if my first lot of blossom was less than believable. Now have to add a little more detail, mainly the flower centres, before leaving to dry thoroughly and varnishing. I'll be using a gloss finish as I think it will need to be a bit shinier than the quite dull finish these paints give - especially on the branches. I'm using Winsor & Newton water mixable oils; they're pretty good but not quite the same as regular oil paint but are a lot less smelly!
